Karen Blixen Museum

This 1912 farmhouse at the foot of the Ngong Hills was the home of Karen Blixen, who farmed coffee here and wrote Out of Africa about it. Guided tours walk families through rooms left much as she kept them, with the original furniture, kitchen and coffee-drying equipment, and the guides tell the story well enough to hold older children. The lawns and gardens are lovely for a wander afterwards.

How a family visit works

4. 4Wander the gardens after. If a child cannot stand still for a house tour, this is the wrong Saturday — pick Giraffe Centre instead.
