Kereita Forest
The adventure centre in Kereita Forest, near Kimende about 50km from Nairobi, is built around East Africa's longest zipline — 2.2km of lines strung across the forest canopy. Around it sit horse riding, archery, paintball, mountain biking, nature walks and a canopy-view restaurant, so one family can mix big-kid adrenaline with a gentle walk for the youngest. The cool, high forest air is a change of scene in itself.
Good to know: The zipline has minimum age and weight limits — younger children can ride, walk or try archery instead.
How a family visit works
- 1Confirm it is Thursday–Sunday or a public holiday before you drive toward Kimende, about 50km off the Nairobi–Nakuru highway. Weekdays they are closed.
- 2At the adventure centre, split immediately: zipline (East Africa's longest run of lines, 2.2km across the canopy — age and weight limits) versus horse riding, archery or a forest walk for anyone who will not fly.
- 3Paintball and mountain biking are the teenage track. Book at the desk on arrival if you have not already locked a zipline slot.
- 4Eat at the canopy-view restaurant so you are not managing a picnic and a harness at the same time. Jacket on; the forest sits high and cool.

- Maybe not. Minimum age and weight apply — check with theforest.co.ke before you promise it. Six is the bottom of the listing; younger energy goes to riding, walking or archery. Outing is in the KES 500–1,500 band overall; each activity may be priced separately.
- Are they open on Monday?
- No. Thursday–Sunday and public holidays. Do not discover that at the highway turnoff.
