Kitengela Hot Glass is a working studio on the edge of Nairobi National Park where recycled glass is melted and blown into bowls, beads and sculptures — and visitors can stand and watch the furnace crew do it. The compound itself is the other half of the fun: mosaic paths, sculptures and a swaying suspension bridge strung across the gorge that children beg to cross twice. The café serves homemade ice cream with a view over the valley.
Good to know: Glass-blowing demonstrations run on set days — call ahead if watching the furnace is the reason you are going.
