Maasai Mara National Reserve

Narok County Open daily

The Mara is the Kenyan end of the Serengeti ecosystem and the country's flagship wildlife destination: rolling grassland with lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant and enormous herds of zebra and wildebeest. Between roughly July and October the migration crosses the Mara River, one of the great wildlife spectacles anywhere. Many camps run family tents, shorter kid-length game drives and visits to neighbouring Maasai communities.

Good to know: Ask about minimum ages before booking — some camps restrict young children, while family-focused ones lay on guides and shorter drives.
