Climb BlueSky on the 6th floor of Diamond Plaza in Parklands is Nairobi's best-known indoor climbing gym — top-rope walls up to 6.5m and bouldering walls up to 4.1m, with harnesses, shoes and supervision provided. Younger climbers are supervised closely by staff, and the gym runs kids' birthday parties and after-school sessions alongside open climbing. A genuinely different kind of physical challenge from the usual trampoline-park circuit.

How to join

1. 1Climb BlueSky is on the 6th floor of Diamond Plaza, Parklands. It is closed Sundays; come Monday to Saturday.
2. 2If you want a kids' session or after-school slot rather than open climbing, check the timetable and book that. Younger climbers are supervised by staff.
3. 3Hire climbing shoes at the desk if you do not own a pair. Harnesses are provided.
4. 4Staff will brief first-timers on top-rope (walls up to 6.5m) versus bouldering (up to 4.1m). Do not put a nervous five-year-old on the tallest line on minute one.
5. 5Birthday parties use the same gym — book those separately from a casual session.
6. 6Wear clothes you can lift your arms in. Leave jewellery off. Pickup is when the session ends, not when they have 'finished the wall'.
