Saiwa Swamp National Park

Near Kitale Open daily

Saiwa Swamp is the smallest national park in Kenya and can only be explored on foot, which makes it a rare treat for families. Wooden boardwalks cross the wetland to observation towers up in the trees, where patient children can spot the rare semi-aquatic sitatunga antelope wading through the reeds, along with de Brazza's monkeys, otters and dozens of bird species. The whole park can be walked in a morning.

Good to know: Binoculars make this park — the sitatunga stay in the reeds and the best viewing is from the towers.
